What's a Light Catcher?

Light Catchers, the new solar ovens.
The sun shines everywhere in the world, so let us embrace the sun and use her light! It feels wonderful to use the warmth of the sunlight to try out new recipes or make a delicious cup of coffee anywhere you want. Imagine yourself to be able to melt metal and glass in the middle of nowhere by using a Light Catcher.

A Light Catcher is a solar oven that captures the sunlight and concentrates it. It is put outside, and needs a place without shadow, for example in the garden or on a flat rooftop. The Light Catchers are turned manually towards the sun. Our present designs are as simple as possible. Nevertheless we incorporate a possibility for future mechanization in our designs.

At this moment we are busy developing the following Light Catchers.
We have made and tested many solar ovens. Several types of Light Catchers have emerged by now:
• A cooking oven with large capacity, low temperature to about 230 degrees.
• A metal melter, for medium high temperatures up to approximately 500 degrees.

In test phase:
• A small muffin maker; we are testing the 1st prototype right now,
• A big light catcher; a large mobile light catcher which can be used for larger quantities of breads and cakes. This one is waiting for the 1st tests,
• Light Catcher with a ceramic kiln, tested in 2011 in Portugal; measured 900 degrees.

On the digital drawingboard:
• The Solaccino, a cappuccino machine,
• A small high temperature melter for melting metal,
• The City Light Catcher, a small version for use on your balcony.

The first Solar oven from graduating
at the Design Academy 2006.
Rick used it to recycle plastics.

Light Catcher 2010, for cooking.
Lightcatcher with ceramic kiln, Portugal
and the Netherlands 2011. We did testings with
cooking, making ceramics, melting metals.
Light Catcher, 2008, Spain. We used
it for melting plastics and for cooking.
